In their real name
Wow how very exciting. Last week I was writing a list of blog ideas and among the many was a quick note to write about authors who had published under pseudonyms and pen names.
I was browsing the internet, as you do and came across this great news. I may even be a couple of days behind with this. Novels written by women that were previously published under male pen names, as they probably would not have been published otherwise, have been reissued using the authors' real female names. How simply wonderful is this?
Among others is George Eliot's Middlemarch, which has been reissued under the author's real name, Mary Ann Evans, for the first time. There are 25 titles that have been released to mark the 25th anniversary of the Women's Prize for Fiction, which is sponsored by Bailey's. I am sad to say I have not heard of all of them but I think to re-issue them and give them new life under their real names, which is so very much deserved is such a wonderful thing and I wanted to share it. I have tried to find more details of these artists to tell you a little it more but with little joy, I do hope they too get the accolade they deserve. I will be researching this further and will be back on this subject.
