BOOKSTON 2027
THE AIM - All profits from the days events will be used to buy books for children and adults who may not have access to their own. As well as finance future fundraisers. I do hope you will join us.
1. THE CONCEPT
Bookston is a proposed town-wide celebration of books, reading, writing and community.
Rather than being a traditional book festival based in one venue, the idea is to turn Beeston itself into a book festival for the day.
A central hub would provide a temporary bookshop and activities, while cafés, pubs, shops, schools and community venues across Beeston will host their own book-related activities, all organised by The Book Place, The Book Clubs, Beeston & friends. .
The aim is to create an event where people can read, discover, browse, listen, write, meet authors and take part, whether they are regular readers or not. To celebrate everything books and have a great day.
2. WHAT WE ARE GOING TO MAKE HAPPEN?
The programme is still being developed and would be shaped by local interest.
Possible activities include:
-
Local author talks and meet-the-author events
-
Children's storytelling
-
Writing workshops
-
Poetry and spoken word
-
Book clubs
-
Silent reading sessions
-

-

-

-
